BLOG1: Magazine essential parts

  


  • selling line: the short "definition" of the magazine, what kind of magazine it is and overall topics or things like "fame, glamour, scandal" or "home decor,outside gardening, and diy projects"
  • bar code: the thin used by retailers used to purchase the magazine, some big name magazines omit the use of one though.
  • left third: it is imprortant in stores where the magazine isn't completely shown.
  • masthead: the brand of the magazine like "vogue" or "women's health" and things that are familiar, and never change from the magazine.
  • dateline: the month and year that the magazine was published, or like the month the magazine is covering
  • main image: its the eye catcher and the main, big, image on the front page, the "cover model" or photo.
  • model credit: not always on the cover, but does appear, the models or main image's name.
  • cover lines: the titles of the main stories in the magazine that are like eye catchers that make you want to buy the magazine, like "kardashians split pg.25" or " john doe develops cancer pg. 50".
  • main cover line: is the BIG story of the magazine or the big reason to buy the magazine and has the biggest cover line, taking a majority of the magazine, differs colors, and some times even fonts so it really stands out, and is best not to contrast with the image in the background.
